David, Harrison and I had Dan and Molly (my in-laws) over for dinner tonight to celebrate Molly's birthday (a little late). We got to talking after dinner and HG was in bed about the house that they have lived in and the miracle it was that they got it. Anyway, this led to stories of when Dan and Molly dated (hilarious!) and how Dan was in love with Molly. He proposed to her and she did not say yes for three months!!! He talked about how "hot" she was (and still is) and how hard he had to work to gain her love. It was quite entertaining and refreshing to hear that after 30 years of marriage they still love one another and have the memories of their youth to sustain and entertain themselves. I pray that David and I will have the same vitality and faithfulness to one another as they do. Thank you Mr. B and MollyB for who you are and what you mean to our family!!!

Inspiration in anything, everything if I need

So Im on this road to rediscovery...this could mean ANYTHING!! For example, I have had short hair for all of my adult life, with the small exception that in order to get the look I wanted for my wedding I grew it out....a little. But lately I have had the urge to have long(er) hair. We shall see how it goes...I've already made it waaaay past my due date for a hair cut. On the big scope I've found myself lacking a little motivation lately. Usually I'm a doer and can self motivate, but these past few weeks the Satan voice has been very LOUD. So, Im looking for inspiration in anything and everything. K? I guess I am ready to get to the next part of my "Grown-up" life. Finishing my Master's is on the horizon, but the Satan voice has been talking to me a little about that too.... SHUT UP SATAN VOICE!!! lol That just made me laugh. I realized that Dave Barnes was right when he said, "Sometimes the time we think it should take to build the house it takes to build the foundation." Ha. literally. At any rate, this is my announcement of determination to find inspiration in the little things....so HERE IT GOES!

Where the Wild Things Are...

To be honest, I never read the book as a child...Harrison has the book now, but I had never thought much of it. If you haven't seen the movie yet I won't ruin it for you (its only been out two days), but it inspired me. It was a little strange at first, but it was inspirational. My husband will be saying at this point "Here comes the melancholy!" And yes, here she comes.... King Max reminded me of a few things: be brave, explore, get dirty, "lay in a real pile", hug... I remember reading "Wild at Heart" by John Eldridge (and yes, its intended for men) and thinking, this is a little bit of me. I appreciate the "wild" aspect of men and boys, but there is also a little bit of wild in me. At least, I hope there is some left after days filled with laundry, reading for class, dinner, work, squeezing in a kiss from my two guys, you know! There is a scripture that has been stuck in my mind after reading it somewhere a few days ago. Its found in Isaiah 43:18, "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up, do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland." Somehow these thoughts are all connected in my mind. I think what I'm being led to is not to be limited to what my finite eye can see for the moment. The things aformentioned that consume my days (school, work, laundry, etc) are the temporary. Streams in the desert are miracles. Just like King Max saw his dream of a fort come to fruition, I too hope for something bigger, grandiose in nature. Call it naivete. Whatever, but Im hoping for my stream in the desert...my NEW thing that God is giving me.
